Those gray skies outside aren't a tease, ladies and gentlemen. They're a harbinger of meteorological doom. It's mild and slightly muggy now and more intense weather this evening and overnight as a cool down follows the thunderstorms in today's forecast.
But first, let's talk about those storms. They're part of a massive cold front pushing across the center of the country, ranging from northern Illinois to northeastern Texas. That front will meet with some Gulf moisture and make for some strong thunderstorms. Skilling Central is predicting 1-2 inches by Friday morning. Before the main event, the undercard will feature some scattered showers and highs ranging from the mid- to upper 70s.
After today we'll settle into some chilly weather heading into the weekend. Keep an eye on Saturday, which could set a record low high, if the patterns hold.
