See Malört On The Big Screen

By Melissa McEwen in Food on Oct 13, 2014 6:00PM

2014_10_malortfilm.png "The Story WIll Never End," a documentary about Chicago’s favorite (and least-favorite) spirit Malört is screening at Chop Shop (2033 W. North Ave.) on Thursday Oct 16.

The film tells the story of Malort’s history and the Chicago culture around it. “We like to hurt ourselves with Malort” says Pat Burger of Paddy Long’s in the trailer.

But “there is so much more to it than a bitter shot and a malört face” says owner Pat Gabelick. The Malört staff will be there for a Q&A after the film and of course there will be malört on draft.

The event will also feature the premier of "A Waltz For Old Jeppson", the Malört anthem by Chicago favorites Archie Powell & The Exports.

There is a $5 suggested donation and the event is only open to those over 21.
