This week, we’re looking forward to a pre-Broadway premiere, opera stars performing cabaret-style on their nights off, and a staged version of that infamous sinking ship.

Amazing Grace
The latest Broadway-bound preview to try out in Chicago tells the story behind the creation of the title song, whose origins are rooted in the strife and rebellion during the slave trade. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 2.

Broadway in Chicago at the Bank of America Theatre, 18 W. Monroe, 312-977-1700 or online.

Beyond the Aria
In partnership with the Lyric Opera, Harris Theater is producing a series of intimate, cabaret-style shows that feature performers on their nights off, singing their favorite tunes. The first performance is Oct. 21, followed by Nov. 10, Jan. 14 and March 10.

Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph, 312-334-7777 or online.

Titanic
Yep, it's the musical version of that disastrous sinking ship. But don't, there's no Jack or Rose this time around—just some classic Maury Yeston tunes. The show runs through Sunday, Dec. 7.

Griffin Theatre at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-975-8150 or online.
