FBI agents raided several restaurants in Chinatown Friday, including at least two owned by noted chef and restaurateur Tony Hu.
Warrants were served for Lao Sze Chuan (2172 S. Archer Ave.) and Lao Shanghai (2163 S. China Pl.) around 10 a.m. Special Agent Joan Hyde, media coordinator for the FBI's Chicago Division, would only confirm to Chicagoist the search warrants were executed and there were no arrests during the raids, noting the investigation is ongoing.
Hu owns several acclaimed restaurants in Chinatown and across Chicago in a veritable empire of regional Chinese styles. Hu would not comment to reporters on the raids.
