Blackhawks 2, Ottawa 1
The Blackhawks called up reinforcements at goal to give Corey Crawford some extra time to heal from a lower body injury. On Sunday night, Lemont native Scott Darling was the First Star of the game as he earned his first career win with a 32-save performance. Darling was at his best in the third period as the Senators sent wave of waves of attacks his way in an attempt to force overtime.
"It's 20 years of work coming into this one game, so I was excited. It went well and I'm just happy."
The game was marked by chippy play in the first and second periods before Jonathan Toews got the Blackhawks on the board first with this tasty looking wraparound goal.
Brent Seabrook scored the game winner later in the second period and Patrick Kane, who assisted on Toews' wraparound, scored his 500th career point as the Hawks snapped a two-game losing streak.
