Photographer and Friend of Chicagoist Joshua Mellin dropped these photos from the recently started Wrigley Field renovations, which have been dubbed “The 1060 Project.” One of the first phases of the project is a teardown and rebuilding of the bleachers, which have been in place since 1937 and added to piecemeal in the subsequent decades as that section of the ballpark went from being cheap seats to some of the most in-demand tickets in the ballpark.
The Cubs will add 300 seats to the left and right field bleacher areas, additional concession areas and terraces for fans to congregate during games. To accommodate this, the outfield walls will be pushed back to where the edge of the sidewalk used to exist.
