Pencil This In: The DIY Trunk Show

2014_11_21PTI2.jpg The holiday shopping season is just around the corner. Who wants to deal with the headache of crowded malls, the soul crushing feeling of being surrounded by Black Friday stupidity and the panic of not having gifts ready to go at the last minute? Remedy all those problems and more at the DIY Trunk Show tomorrow. Started in 2003, the DIY Trunk Show has been a great resource where you can support local independent retailers while browsing for gifts in a relaxed environment. A few years ago the show moved to Broadway Armory, which means even more space for shopping. 130 artisans have their wares on display for purchase, from jewelry to handbags and body care products, pet items and woodworking to stationary, there is something for anyone on your gift giving list. The event is free, and they offer coat check, chair massages, food (including vegan options) drinks, and this year a free beer for those 21 and over from Brooklyn Brewery and Lagunitas while supplies last. Show up early, and you could score a tote bag with free goodies as well. It sure beats schlepping around your belongings and duking it out while shopping at most major retail outlets.

The DIY Trunk Show is tomorrow, Nov. 22, at Broadway Armory Park (5917 N Broadway Ave) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free to enter.
