Some of us here at Chicagoist are pretty avid skaters while others on staff need a good amount of booze in our system before we agree to strap on a pair and fall on our asses. Well, thankfully we can combine drinking, skating and even fried chicken (something we weren't even aware we needed to combine) this winter since Parson's Chicken & Fish are set to open their very own ice skating rink. The popular chicken and fish fry spot has a lovely back patio where we've spent many a long summer afternoon under the sun sipping their dangerously boozy slushies, but come winter it's a pretty underutilized piece of real estate. No longer though: starting Dec. 12 Parson's will open to the public a small ice rink on their back patio area. The rink is open to skaters of all ages, although only 30 skaters will be allowed on the rink at a time. There is a $5 skating fee regardless if you bring your own skates or rent them on-site.

You can skate Friday through Sunday at the rink. Hours are as follows:

Fridays 3 p.m. to midnight
Saturdays 10 a.m. to midnight
Sundays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There will be a special menu served while the rink is open. We're guessing a few hot beverages will make an appearance, but we're certain that there is enough booze in their signature slushies that we'll do just fine staying warm. Or at least numb enough not to feel our butts bruising when we can't stay upright on ice. And our friends at the RedEye did ask and yes, you can eat chicken while skating.
