  • Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis has returned to work this week on a part-time basis, just two months after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had emergency surgery. [NBC Chicago]
  • Tim Mitchell, longtime aide to former Mayor Richard M. Daley and Chicago’s former parks chief, was found dead Wednesday at his North Side home. Mitchell was 49. [Sun-Times]
  • A McHenry man has been charged with possession of child pornography. The man was living at home with his parents, where they run a state-licensed day care center on a separate floor of the home. Police are continuing to investigate, but at this time there is no indication any children enrolled at the day care center were involved. [Chicago Tribune]
  • Are you a fan of the giant retro "Z" Frank Chevrolet sign that is an iconic staple along Western Ave? If so, it's yours for free if you'll take it off the owner's hands. Otherwise it's getting scrapped. [DNAinfo Chicago]
  • A pair of adorable mini horses are not only bringing smiles and joy to the pediatric unit at Rush University Medical Center, but they also offer therapeutic benefits to patients as well. They are just too darn cute and of course our friends over at Huffington Post Chicago have video. Tiny horse boots! [Huffington Post Chicago]
