When it rains it pours and the Bears lost season became even more nightmarish with the news top receiver Brandon Marshall will undoubtedly miss the team's next game against the New Orleans Saints and possibly the remainder of the season with two fractured ribs and a punctured lung.
Marshall took a knee to the back from Cowboys safety Barry Church in the second quarter Thursday night. He left the game and was transported to a hospital where the extent of his injuries were revealed. Marshall was having a good game before the injury with 61 yards receiving, including a highlight-reel grab. But his season has been marred by injuries and subpar performances on the field and distractions away from games. Coach Marc Trestman said at his Friday news conference he visited Marshall after the game and "he was in good spirits." Trestman would not rule Marshall out for the Bears remaining two games after New Orleans but with a 5-8 record and the team not even able to play for pride at this point rushing Marshall back to the lineup would seem futile at best.
