New CDOT Video Offers Somber Reminder Of Why You Shouldn't Run Red Lights

Pedestrians, drivers, and bicyclists all flout the rules of the road to some degree. (A little common sense and etiquette, especially on the lakefront path, would go a long way.) Cars, however, can do quite a bit more damage if the flout certain rules of the road--such as running a red light.

On Thursday, the Chicago Department of Transportation released a minute-long clip of footage from the city's red-light cameras (themselves a considerable controversy) of drivers causing accidents by speeding through red lights. The clip, which alternates between footage of car crashes and sobering statistics about Chicago traffic accidents, has been viewed almost 1,700 times as of Saturday afternoon.

Watch it below, and stay safe out there.
