Today's Weather: Seeking Sunlight

How does Seattle do it? How does the Jet City manage to deal with constant clouds because the tradeoff in Chicago for cold weather tends to be clear skies. In a year of crazy weather, however, Chicago is on the cusp of breaking another longstanding record.

This December is on track for being the darkest December on record in Chicago. Through Monday, Chicago has recorded 16 percent sun exposure this month. The record for a December is 19 percent, set in 1975. (The top slot belongs to November 1985, with 16 percent exposure.)

And today's forecast shows no signs of sunlight, either. Thankfully, the highs have already exceeded Skilling Central's predictions, so our yearlong impersonation of Seattle continues. The clouds will remain with us overnight and possibly bring a mix of precipitation for Christmas Eve. Wunderbar!

As for when we may see sunlight again, Friday's forecast calls for "partly cloudy" skies. Fingers crossed.
