Music Video Of The Day: American Football 'Never Meant'

By Lisa White in Arts & Entertainment on Dec 29, 2014 11:00PM

It's been a good year for Midwestern emo fans. Not only has the genre had a successful year of new creative output, it also saw the return of a few gone-too-soon titans including American Football. The Champaign-Urbana band with Mike Kinsella (you might know him from his work in Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc or currently of Owen) at the helm released only a select amount of work and played a small handful of live shows before parting ways. But their cult status lived on over the years and the group got back together this year for some live dates, including a slot at Pygmalion Music Festival.

Now you can celebrate the new year, emo style, with the band as well. Their show tomorrow night is sold out, but there are still some tickets available for their New Year's Eve set. Grab one and for now relive the nostalgia below.

Since you apparently can't watch music videos on television anymore, we'll showcase one here daily. There's no rhyme or reason, time or season, to which video we'll choose. Have a suggestion? Contact us at tips@chicagoist.com.
