A chilly happy New Year's Eve to everyone. If you are heading out to celebrate tonight, bundle up. Yes, a puffy winter coat will require checking your coat but starting off the new year with frostbite isn't anyone's finest hour. Right now it's a balmy 6 degrees outside but feels even colder thanks to strong winds passing through Chicago today. Gusts up to 30+ mph could produce wind chills below zero later this afternoon and into the evening. We might hit a high of 20 degrees today but it sure won't feel like it.

New Year's Day will find us a bit warmer, a nice respite for those nursing a hangover. We'll also enjoy some sunshine Thursday and Friday before possible snow this weekend. At least the temperatures will be warmer, which is the trade-off. Keep warm and have a safe and happy New Year's Eve.
