It's election season in Chicago. Municipal races have historically been pretty ham-handed: let's face the facts here, if you're running for alderman of a funny-shaped ward in an out-of-the-way part of the city, paying Channel 9 to run an ad isn't going to get you much payback in terms of votes. But with multiple options for people to consume media these days, it is possible to cut an ad for an obscure race and get people to see it.
Today we present to you a glorious two-minute video from Harold "Noonie" Ward, the former Gangster Disciples boss turned community activist, who is challenging incumbent Anthony Beale in the 9th Ward.
This one is worth a look: it has high-production values, a moody tone and a damning indictment of an incumbent alderman that makes this a must-watch. That the rest of the city has a window into this race, via this video, makes it all that more interesting.
