Pencil This In: CHIRP Radio's 'First Time - First Chance'
By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 12, 2015 7:10PM
CHIRP radio's "The First Time" series is one of the most popular live storytelling events in Chicago, drawing from a host of readers from the city's live lit, blogging/media and music communities for featured readers. (Several Chicagoist staffers have graced the stage for this series.)
The series always pairs a reader’s personal story about a First Time event with a song performance "The First Time Three" of Steve Frisbie, Liam Davis, Gerald Dowd. The featured readers for Wednesday's "First Chance" theme at Martyrs' include storytelling superstar Lily Be, musician Freda Love Smith, WBEZ "Strange Brews" podcast co-host Tim Akimoff, Stubhy Pandav of Lucky Boys Confusion, "Collector's Edition" host Rick Joyce, comedian Ali Clayton and CHIRP Radio DJ Nicole Oppenheim. CHIRP Radio's Jenn Sodini hosts.
Tickets are $10 and the event starts at 8 p.m. (3855 N. Lincoln Ave.)
