Drivers on Lake Shore Drive got a thrill during their evening commute: a coyote was spotted wandering around frozen Lake Michigan. Firefighters were called to the scene after reports that there was a dog on the ice. When they arrived, they found the coyote casually making its way back to shore.

These coyote spottings having become increasingly common as the species has acclimated to an urban environment. Coyotes are regularly spotted at Olive Park. In December 2010, Animal Control had to be dispatched to rescue a coyote trapped on an ice floe in Belmont harbor.

This one, though, seemed to be taking things as cold as the ice under its feet.
