Pencil This In: Rasputin's Birthday Bash And Beard Contest At Bar On Buena

Grigori Rasputin had some major stroke with Russia's Romanov dynasty and one famously intense, creepy stare. It was no wonder when the Bolsheviks overthrew the tsar they made sure Rasputin stayed dead by stabbing, poisoning, shooting and drowning his ass.

Celebrate "The Mad Monk's" birthday at Bar on Buena 7 p.m. Jan. 22 when North Coast Brewing throws a party featuring a barrel of their Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. They'll be giving away fake beards for those who aren't or can't grow one and giving away prizes to the men with the best beards throughout the night. (910 W. Buena Ave.)
