The Blackhawks took leads three times against the Kings Thursday night at the Staples Center only to see the defending Stanley Cup champs roar back to tie. LA eventually won the game with Jake Muzzin's wrister with 3:37 remaining in regulation. Jeff Carter, long a thorn in the Blackhawks's side, scored twice and Tyler Toffoli found net for the Kings.

Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw scored for the Blackhawks, who stumbled in the first of a six-game road trip in return from the NHL's All-Star break. Corey Crawford made 23 saves and was stick-breaking mad on an interference penalty he believes wasn't called in the game.
