This Week In Chicago Food Porn: King Cake, Brandade And Kuma's New Burger

By Melissa McEwen in Food on Feb 2, 2015 8:00PM

The newest burger of the month at Kuma's is one of the most tempting we've seen in awhile. The "Frost" is layered with shepherd's pie, cheese potato cake, white cheddar, HP red wine reduction and fresh thyme.

It's almost time for Mardi Gras and for people in Louisiana and with roots there, that means king cake, a cinnamon-roll like confection with vanilla icing decorated in gold, green and purple sprinkles. You can grab it at Big Jones, where it's on their Restaurant Week menu.

In our post on Trenchermen last week we mentioned the coffee pastry pairing. This month's looks insanely delicious: "Devils food doughnut with creamy peanut butter frosting and peanut brittle." Another doughnut luring us out into the snow is Charlatan's bomboloni.
