Do This: Southern Food, Valentines And Dumpling Popups At Ampersand

By Melissa McEwen in Food on Feb 3, 2015 4:30PM

Ampersand is a little space for pop-up restaurants at the back of Kinmont (419 W. Superior St.). We always make sure to check their calendar often to find out about new and exciting pop-ups. The calendar for the upcoming month looks particularly exciting.

We can personally vouch for Maddy's Dumpling House by Chrissy Camba (Laughing Bird, Top Chef). I've been to two of her pop-ups so far and loved them both. The amount of food and the variety is astounding. Her next theme is Chinese New Year on Feb. 18 for $70. Grab your tickets fast because they tend to sell out quickly.

Then there are the Valentine's Day Chaucerian Feasts on the 13th and 14th with Mike Sheerin and Sarah Jordan, formerly of Cicchetti, a restaurant we miss.

Chef Mark Wright's Black & Wright pops up on Feb. 5 with a Southern-influenced menu including BBQ black cod with Hoppin John and "kimchi" collards, roasted banana pudding with marshmallow fluff. View the full menu here. Tickets are $60 or $75 if you opt for the wine pairing.
