This year’s Chicago Blues Festival will pay tribute to two of the architects of the Chicago Blues sound. Muddy Waters (whom we swore had been feted at the festival before) and Willie Dixon would have turned 100 this year, and the festival’s organizers have “centennial celebrations” planned for each during the June 12-14 festival.
Both Mississippi natives, Dixon and Waters revolutionized the Delta Blues sound in Chicago. Waters did so with his electric guitar and rough-hewn vocals.
While Dixon with his proficiency on several instruments and songwriting proficiency.
The complete Blues Fest schedule will be released in spring.
