My normal windbreaking layers provided little relief from that wind from the north cutting through everything in its path this morning. That wind will have most of your cursing your existence this morning, but the gusts will die down in time for the morning commute.

Those winds are carrying some polar air with them that have hit Chicago like a ton of bricks and will keep daytime temps in the teens and overnight lows in the single digits. Except for a brief foray into the 20s on Friday, the extended forecast calls for layers upon layers as we begin a late winter deep freeze lasting through at least next weekend.

You didn't think you'd get through this winter unscathed, did you?
