Music Video Of The Day: Vic Mensa 'Lovely Day'

By Lisa White in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 16, 2015 11:00PM

We've had Vic Mensa on the brain (and on the stereo) all day since his surprise performance backing Kanye West on the debut of his new track "Wolves" last night during SNL40. Mensa and Sia's vocals blended beautifully into the somber and haunting song that is supposedly the opening track from Kanye's still unannounced seventh album.

Our social media feeds exploded with Chicago pride last night during the performance, not surprising since we're always proud of local acts that are thrust into the national spotlight. Mensa has come a long way since this writer first saw him perform with Kids These Days at the Hideout. We've caught a few hometown shows since then and can't wait for his set this summer at Pitchfork Music Festival. It's a safe bet that even bigger and better things are to come in 2015 for Vic Mensa.

For now, we revisit an earlier track, a perfect summer jam that has us dreaming of Pitchfork Music Festival in July.

Since you apparently can't watch music videos on television anymore, we'll showcase one here daily. There's no rhyme or reason, time or season, to which video we'll choose. Have a suggestion? Contact us at tips@chicagoist.com.
