While we slept, Chicago set a new record low temperature for this date and we're in reach of setting a record low high temperature. Nine degrees is the mark to watch, set in 1936; Skilling Central has us pegged for a 4 degree high today, which should easily break the mark.
Those records should be wind-aided as we are under a wind chill advisory until 1 p.m. That's when things will start to warm up around here. Funny, when we left the den of iniquity we were holed up in at 1 a.m. it didn't feel this cold, even though the mercury read zero degrees.
But things are looking up Friday, with highs near 20 and Saturday is going to be simply tropical, compared to the past couple days.
