041013help.jpg Are you as intrigued by the mayoral runoff as you are in discussing the ever-expanding development of Chicago? Do you pine to write about issues like the runoff election, dibs, and more? Well, check it out: Chicagoist is seeking a full-time reporter, editor and blogger with solid editing skills and a touch of wit who can cover a range of topics, from hard news to arts, food and more.

Responsibilities Include: Producing a healthy mix of informative and engaging blogging/aggregation posts; some original reporting; social media management; and editing stories written by others. You should be as comfortable reporting—pestering public officials, tracking down sources—as you are musing about whether the Lucas Museum is a good idea or checking out the newest craft brewer in town.

This is a paid, full-time position, with fully covered medical, dental and vision benefits. As the main Gothamist office is in NYC, the newest Chicagoist associate editor will work from home (or wherever there's WiFi). Days and hours may vary from a normal 9-to-5 job. The ideal candidate MUST be versatile and knowledgeable about all things Chicago.

Requirements: At least one year of full-time blogging experience, an instinct for what's newsworthy and the skills to report it out, razor sharp copy editing skills, a ferocious drive and piercing wit, a deep and abiding interest in Chicago and the stamina to create 4-6 well-written and interesting posts per day while helping to manage the flow of pieces from other contributors.
