It won't be long before the snow clogging Chicago's streets melts and is replaced by a glut of bicycles as the weather warms and fair weather cyclists emerge from hibernation. That means the first major ride of 2015 is on the horizon.

Registration for the May 24 MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive is now open and those of you who register before noon today can save $7 off the standard fees. Adult registration is $42 ($65 with an annual membership in the Active Transportation Alliance) or for $77 you can register for Bike the Drive and the Boulevard Lakefront Tour in August, which is being resurrected one time only to celebrate Active Trans' 30th anniversary. That is probably the best deal out there.

Riders in Bike the Drive have the opportunity to ride a car-free Lake Shore Drive in either 15- or 30-mile loops, avoiding the potholes left behind by winter every inch of the way. The ride has become one of the most popular non-competitive bike rides in Chicago with thousands of cyclists of all levels seizing the opportunity to enjoy some of the best views of the lakefront and skyline Chicago has to offer.

If you can't or don't register today, you can still save $5 off the standard registration through March 23. What are you waiting for? Click here to register.
