Riot Fest may now host a huge international festival each year, but we think it's important to remember the organization had its roots in promoting the excellent music scene based in Chicago. Double Door has long launched the careers of many outstanding local bands and we at Chicagoist also think it's really important that the greatness of Chicago's local acts not be understated. So that's why all three have teamed for a series with a focus on making sure that outstanding local talent is given its due.

The new showcase series kicks off next month at Double Door on April 11. It will feature a headlining set from rapper ShowYouSuck, who has long been on the rise. His recordings are inventive and carry a sense of humor that positions ShowYouSuck as the dude everyone wants to know and hang out with, while his live shows are filled with a pulsing energy worthy of most punk bands. The man can command a stage and keeps every eye in the room focused on him, even as everyone is bouncing along madly to the heady mix of beats and flow that run like unleashed bulls on a Spanish street at every single one of his shows.

Opening the evening are two other locals, Gut Rot and 100Trill. Gut Rot features members of Warhound and will be a reunion of sorts seeing the band play material off their first three demos. This should provide a classic look back at the harder edges of the band's metal sound that will get the crowd nice and riled up early in the evening. Starting off the night will be 100Trill, a hip-duo made up of Westside natives Grade Aplus and Mike Jaxx. Their subterranean bass and playful rhymes should get the party started off right.

Tickets for the April 11 show at Double Door (1572 N. Milwaukee Ave) go on sale this Wednesday at noon CST.
