March has been a whirlwind. It seems like just yesterday we were filling our calendars with this list of things to see and do this month. If you do still have some wiggle room in your weekend schedule, here’s a fun event we think you should add to your own calendar.

On Sunday Public House Theater and Arcade Brewery will team up with Chicago Loot Drop to host a Hobbit Sing-A-Long complete with a bouncing One Ring to make sure you don’t lose your place. The film screened will be the 1977 Rankin-Bass animated classic, which you may remember from your childhood (and may prefer to the more recent films). Tickets are only $10 and it helps a great cause.

Chicago Loot Drop is a charitable organization born out of Chicago’s self-proclaimed “gamer/nerd” community. They partner with Comer Children’s Hospital and a national gaming community charity called Child’s Play to raise money which then goes to buy books, games and toys for the children at Comer.

This group has raised thousands of dollars and held amazingly fun events for the community it draws from, whether that’s Rock Band tourneys or movie screenings. Pair that up with the craft brews from Arcade and we think you may almost forget Monday is lurking around the corner.

The Hobbit sing-a-long is this Sunday, March 22, at Public House Theatre, 3914 N Clark, 7:30 p.m., $10
