Look for your Slayer to come with a side of stroller when the latest location of Kuma’s Corner opens in Schaumburg this July. After being grilled for years about a rumored suburban opening of the metal-and-burger bar, and of course flat out denying it, Kuma’s has now decided to raise its growing family outside the city limits. The establishment does turn ten this year, so maybe it was time to settle down.

This spot on Golf Rd. will be the fourth location, following the flagship restaurant at 2900 W. Belmont Ave., Kuma’s Too at 666 W. Diversey Ave. and a planned Indianapolis outpost debuting in May. According to the Daily Herald, co-owner Ron Cain has hinted that this will be the last of the expansion in the Chicago area as they look to other Midwestern markets like Milwaukee, which actually makes more sense than Schaumburg.

Cain admitted that “the proximity of office buildings and stores near Woodfield made it an obvious choice” to help cater to a hungry lunchtime crowd but unless he’s talking about the kids that work at Hot Topic, we’re not sure what business model might sustain it. This could be a good thing though—if you are willing to brave the minivans and the traffic on 90 to get there—you will find a Kuma’s with free and available parking and the probability of a short wait and really, Pantera could drown out any screaming child.

As one Daily Herald reader commented, “I SINCERELY hope they will take this opportunity to bring back the Waffle Fries.”
