Spring Is In Bloom At The Macy's Flower Show

Spring has been in swing for over a week now, last Monday's snowfall notwithstanding. But if your inner horticulturist has been daunted by the lack of green shoots around town, take heart in the annual Macy's Flower Show. This year's theme, "Art in Bloom," features gardens inspired by several art movements and styles including Cubism and Impressionism.
The Flower Show, held at the State Street Macy's location, runs through April 4 and has plenty to offer. There's a feast for all of the senses, including a tasting by Argo Tea, a cooking class with Demera Ethiopian and even an urban beekeeping seminar with Allen Lawrance of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. On April 3 there will even be musical performances by Elaine Dame and the Apollo Chorus of Chicago. This year's show will close out with a Family Fun Day on April 4, and you can stop in all week to check out the texture wall or get a caricature courtesy of Doodlebooth.
The Macy's Flower Show is located 111 N. State St., 9th floor and is free and open to the public during store hours.
