In what is possibly the clearest evidence that the United States economy is back on track, ESPN is reporting that in Las Vegas more people are betting on the Cubs to win the World Series than any other team.

Of course it's Chicago in April, so optimism is at an all-time high. After all, the Chicago Cubs had a solid spring training featuring an incredible performance from Kris Bryant, but this is still a team that finished last season with only 73 wins and has not won a World Series in 107 years.

According to MGM resorts, in October the Cubs opened the betting season at 40 to 1 odds to win the World Series. Due to this significant amount of betting action, however, they have since moved to 6 to 1 odds. Meanwhile the White Sox opened up as 50 to 1 odds and currently stand at 10 to 1. One MGM resort sports book employee says this is nothing new— "Every year, they bet the Cubs. I could be their ace and you could be their No. 2 starter, and they'd still bet them."

So congratulations to these brave Chicagoans and Cubs fans across the land for their unbridled optimism. However, maybe you can use that money for something more urgent and realistic. Like, say, paying your parking tickets.
