April is Chicago Dance Month and Audience Architects has constructed a program spanning the month with performances, free events, special offers and more. Under the theme “Open Doors, Open Spaces” they continue the new tradition of making dance accessible to all. Each Friday in May at Pritzker Park experience the “Open Spaces” portion with TDIF! (Thank Dance It’s Friday), a free dance concert. The “Open Doors” side is made up of performances at unusual downtown locations like the Palmer House Hilton hotel and Modern Classics Furniture showroom.

There are many other companies and performance venues involved, including The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, Harris Theater, Links Hall and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Joffrey Academy is also getting in on the celebration with a full day of free adult classes from Basic Ballet to Yoga tomorrow, April 4. While many of the events, including classes, are free, you can get a discount on other ticket prices with “Hot Deals”.

Chicago Dance Month extends into May, concluding with National Dance Week and an indoor block party at Block 37 on Friday May 1 that features performances from 12 different companies on three stages. With something happening almost every day, the whole list of events is way too long to list here, but check SeeChicagoDance.com for a full, updated listing of events and more information.
