Tow Truck-Evading Driver Was Grabbing Portillo's, Left His Dog In The Jeep

Remember the "heroic" man who bravely drove his car off a tow truck recently, the whole ordeal put on Youtube for all to see?

DNAInfo Chicago was able to find the daredevil from the video, Victor Jaime, and he chatted with them and gave a bit of the backstory around the getaway.

Jaime explained that he and a friend had a hankering for Portillo's and brought along his dog George for the ride. You see, as Jaime told DNAInfo Chicago, "Knowing George, he loves Italian beef." He and his buddy parked in a nearby Walgreen's parking lot (note: not Portillo's parking), left the car running with George the dog inside and ran to Portillo's to grab some grub. When the two got back to the car, they saw the tow truck, Jaime sprinted towards the car and hopped in, got the tow truck driver to finally stop and then hit the gas. As Jaime said, "I knew I had a Jeep Wrangler and knew it could take the beating. I had faith in the [Jeep]. Adrenaline was kicking in."

Although Jaime was able to keep George from going to the pound (car variety, not dog), we did notice a few lessons to be learned from the incident.

Sure, we've all had a serious need for Italian Beef at some point in our lives. There is no judgment on that front. However, if we know one thing in this crazy world of ours, it is that Walgreen's stores that clearly say "Parking for Customers Only" are incredibly serious about that rule. They will never, ever hesitate to call a tow truck, even if your car is running and an adorable dog is inside. Also, and it's sad we have to state this, but please don't leave your dog alone in a parked car. "But I'll only be gone for a minute!" you might say. Bad things can happen in a minute. Bad things like, for example, an unruly Walgreen's manager calling a tow truck on you.

We urge Jaime that the next time a Portillo's craving hits, have a buddy wait in the car, whether George is around or not, while you go grab this round. Your dog and the suspension on your Jeep will thank you later.
