Moto Alumni Reopen The Restaurant To Celebrate Chef Cantu's Life

Earlier this week, the culinary world was shocked and devastated to learn that Chef Homaro Cantu has passed away. The Chicago Tribune reports that several Moto alumni including the last chef, Richie Farina, will reopen the restaurant.

Cantu was best known for Moto, a Michelin-starred restaurant where he constructed creative modernist science-minded food and did many of his food science and technology experiments.

Much of the motivation is to support Cantu's wife Katie McGowan and their two children. "We want to make sure that they’re taken care of," Farina told The Tribune.

McGowan told the Tribune that the plan is for Moto, Berrista and the yet to open brewery to return to "business as usual."

The Cantu family has has designated a charity for donations in lieu of flowers:
