Earlier this week, the United Center was the site of a rousing come from behind victory for the Bulls against the Milwaukee Bucks, right before a speedy turn around from hardwood into ice so the Blackhawks could take home a victory the next night. Have you ever wondered how the United Center staff manages that quick transition? Well, thanks to the Chicago Tribune, wonder no more!
This particular video details the process of converting the United Center from a hockey rink into a basketball court, but still, you get the idea. The video was produced by the Trib last year, but their recent Facebook post had us quickly hitting play again thanks to the current busy season over at the Madhouse on Madison.
The whole process takes about two hours and a crew of 45 workers to remove the basketball court, cart away excess seats, uncover the ice rink and set up barriers. And they do it all right after the previous night's game ends. So for those brave workers who stay until midnight to ensure us hockey or basketball the very next day, we say thank you and Go Bulls and Hawks!
