So, Billy Corgan is now a producer for the second largest professional wrestling organization in the country.

It was announced yesterday that Corgan had has joined TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling as a Senior Producer within the Creative and Talent Development department of the company, effective immediately.

Corgan’s longtime love for wrestling is well established. A few years ago he helped found the Chicagoland based wrestling organization, Resistance Pro. There were talks with AMC to make a reality TV show about Resistance Pro, but nothing ever materialized and Corgan left the company late last year. Corgan also starred in a bizarre Walter E Smithe furniture commercial with some of the Resistance Pro wrestlers, which was probably the best thing to emerge from that partnership.

Corgan tweeted yesterday that he envisions this will be a full time endeavor. What this means for the Smashing Pumpkins going forward remains unclear.

They’ve allegedly been having financial problems leading to the departure of several members of staff. And now Billy Corgan will create "compelling and emotionally engaging story lines" for increasingly washed up late '90s wrestlers who survived the WWE’s infamous Attitude Era such as Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy in an attempt to bring in more younger viewers. We’re not quite sure how all of this will go, but we imagine something like this...
