The shops were closed last month after listeria was found during an inspection of the company's Ohio production kitchens. The company also voluntarily recalled all of its ice cream products. Jeni's representatives said they found the source of the listeria, a type of food poisoning, on May 6.
The company announced that its kitchen is back up and running as of Thursday morning, prepping for a run of their Salty Caramel and Intelligentsia Black Cat Espresso ice cream flavors.
When the regional shops reopen, they will also feature a limited edition Sun-Popped Corn ice cream, according to a press release.
“The support from the community here in Columbus and throughout the country has kept us going these past few weeks,” Jeni Britton Bauer, the artisanal ice cream maker and company founder, said in a statement. “We’re excited to be making ice cream again and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
