Let's face it, the Chicago Blackhawks struggled through most of Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals against the Anaheim Ducks. They were down 4-2 in the third period of last night's game, but two back-to-back goals from Jonathan Toews gave fans a reason to hope for a rally. The Blackhawks center scored two goals near the end of the third period and sent the game into overtime (and most viewers reaching for a drink).
The Ducks squandered their lead in the last two minutes of the regulation game, allowing Toews to score a third goal for his team with a shot off the crossbar. Then just a minute later, Toews tied the game with a zero-angle shot that was only made possible by Ducks' goalie Frederik Andersen faltering at the net. Watch the heartstopping video below:
Unfortunately, the Ducks quickly rallied and scored just 45 seconds into overtime, winning the game 5 to 4. The series is now 3-2, with the Blackhawks facing possible elimination at Wednesday night's game at the United Center. Let's just hope Emilio Estevez isn't on Twitter to jinx us again.
