The Chicago Athletic Association (12 S. Michigan Ave.) has opened its doors and brought with it six new places to eat and drink. The boutique hotel at the Michigan Avenue historic building not only houses the new Shake Shack, but also rooftop restaurant Cindy's and four openings from The Land & Sea Department (Longman & Eagle, Lost Lake): The Cherry Circle Room, Drawing Room, Milk Room and The Game Room.
The Cherry Circle Room, is the hotel's restaurant and helmed by Chef Peter Coenen (The Gage, Boka) and Paul McGee (Lost Lake, Three Dots and a Dash). The team also put together a drink and snacks menu for The Game Room, which has billiards, a bocce court, shuffleboard and table games. Check out the menu at Eater.
The Drawing Room serves pastries and coffee during the day and snacks at night. Milk Room also has a pastry and coffee cafe by day and becomes an eight-seat cocktail bar with a menu by McGee at night. Cindy's is run by chef Christian Ragano and beverage director Nandini Khaund (The Violet Hour).
Cemitas Puebla has closed their original location in Humboldt Park due to a dispute to with the building's owners, a bank. Owner Tony Anteliz says the bank refused to pay for necessary repairs. Their Fulton Market location remains open and they hope to find a new location in Humboldt Park to re-open in.
The team behind renowned New York City whiskey bar The Dead Rabbit and Danny Meyer’s Union Square Events (of Shake Shack fame) will open GreenRiver in Chicago soon. They haven't announced a location yet, but they do already have a chef, Aaron Lirette (Acadia, Celeste).
