The Stanley Cup has made its way to Chicago as Blackhawks fans gear up for the possibility that the team will win the cup on home ice for the first time in nearly 80 years Monday night.

It turns out even iconic sports trophies have to put up with airport security.

Stanley Cup guardian Philip Pritchard tweeted about the cup's departure Monday morning, with photos of the cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy (the cup awarded to Most Valuable Player on a playoffs' team) as they traveled through an X-ray machine at the airport on their way to Chicago.

Twitter went wild over the announcements, underscoring the excitement that is leading into Game 6—the Hawks' first chance to win this year's cup.

Around noon the cup arrived in Chicago, Pritchard tweeted, along with a photo of the cup in its hockey sticker-decorated case in a hotel room.
