Monday Downpour Caused Flooding On The 606, Riverwalk

Two of the city's most-heralded new public park projects were no match for the storms Monday that wracked the region and flooded Chicago's streets.
Large sections of The 606, the elevated rails-to-trails park that recently opened, and the new section of the city's downtown Riverwalk both experienced flooding, with walkways so drenched they were virtually impassable. The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for northern Illinois.
The 606 was walkable Tuesday morning, DNAinfo reported, with a few puddles left behind. The Riverwalk is designed to flood, city officials say, and will be cleaned once the river's water levels return to normal.
