Last Minute Plans: Don't Be A Dummy And Miss This Final Show

After 20 years, Dummy is calling it a day. The three-piece punk rock band—frontman and bassist Mark DeRosa, guitarist John Barnicle, and drummer Jimmy O'Connor—traffics in the kind of high octane riffage and sing-along melodies that drive like-minded souls like the dudes in Pegboy.

The band has played sporadically over the years but we've always brightened at news of an impending live appearance from them. To be honest, they were one Chicago mainstay we probably took for granted since we never thought they'd ever break up. But it sadly appears that time has come.

Let's take a little video walk down memory lane with the band.

Dummy's final show will be tonight at Double Door, where they join a line-up of friends and compatriots for DiaBEATthis, a benefit for the Diabetes Association of Chicago. If you've never caught Dummy before, now is your last chance; and if you have, then we know we'll see you there.

Dummy plays with Destroy Everything, Stickfight, and Kevin Flynn and the Avondale Ramblers tonight, June 18, at Double Door, 1575 N. Milwaukee, 7 p.m., $10 / $20 VIP, 21+
