Video: Check Out A Former Alderman And Aspiring Comedian's New Rap Video

Like many an aspiring, Chicago-based comedian, former West Side alderman and state senator Rickey "Hollywood" Hendon started with a YouTube channel.

"I've always been into comedy—even before I got into politics," Hendon told the Chicago Reader. "I studied at Second City. I formed a group called Chicago Comedy Company. I went to California for a minute."

The former politician, last heard to be working on mayoral candidate Willie Wilson's improbable presidential bid, just released a comedic (depending on your comedy standards) music video with original lyrics, in which he plays a bumbling but lovable father tasked with watching over a rambunctious brood while his wife shops.

The lyrics, like this gem: "My crazy wife, she's at the mall—spending it all. / Boy, get your ass down off that wall," have Ben Joravsky hooked, and we couldn't be more grateful. We recommend suffering through the first few seconds of the sound of a baby screaming to watch Hendon chase his family around the house, get his sandwich stolen by one child and pretend to choke another.

Hendon tells the Reader he plans to make 12 similar videos, all shot in Chicago, in hopes of achieving some comedic stardom.

"The next one's called 'Stupid.' We start shooting on July 11," he said. "I'm going for it. If I don't make it, at least I had some fun."

That's the spirit.
