You Can Now Buy A Castle (Or Two) Of Your Own

If your summer dreams include kicking back in your own private castle, that goal could now be in reach without ever leaving the Chicagoland area.

Two suburban "castles" are up for sale, according to Curbed, complete with stone, barbican-like walls and parapets. Your kingdom? Oak Brook, if you have a $4.2 million to spare or Schaumburg, with the more affordable option at $759,000.

The 12,000 square-foot, 5 bedroom, 7.5 bathroom Oak Brook home, sandwiched between suburban subdivisions at 3015 Lincoln Rd., features 18" soundproof walls and imported wrought-iron details, a "royal billiard room," an elevator, a lower-level theater, game room and workout room and radiant heat floors, according to the broker. With an asking price over $4 million, Curbed predicts it will be on the market for a while.

The more affordable, but no smaller Schaumburg castle at 2150 Hickory Ln., features an elegant stone fireplace, chandeliers and some gorgeous grounds, even if the castle motif gets a little cheesy after a while. The Schaumburg property includes an English Tudor Home, a castle and coach house with a 6 car garage across 3.25 acres of land.
