Extra Extra: Holiday Weekend Violence Totals Start To Climb

17-year-old Vonzell Banks was shot and killed while playing basketball Friday afternoon. The shooting happened at a park named for Hadiya Pendleton, the King College Prep High School student who was fatally shot in 2013. [Tribune]
Four were injured in an acid attack in the Austin neighborhood Friday afternoon. [CBS Chicago]
Two teenagers were hurt in a gang-related crash in Logan Square. [Tribune]
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy hit the streets this weekend, stating that "he felt it was important to join his officers on the street to do the job he’s asking of them," during the long holiday weekend. [CBS Chicago]
As of this morning, four people are dead and at least eight others were injured since 4:45 p.m. on Thursday in Fourth of July weekend violence. [CBS Chicago]
