Local H has been touring since April and they’ve just added an unexpected date to this final leg of the tour. The band told Chicagoist that they’ll be performing a free show at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the Threadless Warehouse in Chicago. And this isn’t some 3-song corporate gig. The show will be free and open to the public, and feature a full-length set from the band.
Local H is currently riding high during this current 40-date tour, playing to packed rooms and some sold to shows as they’ve promoted their latest release, and one of our favorite records of the year thus far, Hey, Killer. A fellow Chicagoist writer attended the band’s Summerfest appearance in Milwaukee last week and told us that the duo of Scott Lucas and Ryan Harding are just as viciously energetic as ever, showing no signs of road weariness. Local H also just made an appearance on the A.V. Club’s Undercover series—the video is embedded below—turning Peter Gabriel’s “Shock The Monkey” into a throbbing distortion-driven angry anthem.
The appearance at Threadless Warehouse should be a unique experience, and because of that the band wants to make sure anyone that really wants to see the show, yet can’t actually be there, will still be able to enjoy it. A livestream of the show will appear on the band’s Facebook page, and tweeted out by Threadless (@threadless) and Local H (@local_h) to be viewed via Periscope just before the show starts.
if you are going to attend the show in person, we suggest getting there early since we’re sure there’ll be a line to catch the band’s only Chicago appearance this summer.
Local H plays on Thursday, July 16, at the Threadless Warehouse, 1260 W. Madison St., 3:30 p.m., FREE, all ages
