Thalia Hall's Secret Bar, The Tack Room, Finally Opens Friday

By Melissa McEwen in Food on Jul 9, 2015 7:45PM

Last month we went on a tour of Thalia Hall, where we learned about two open secrets of a sort.

The first: the bookshelf in Punch House swings open via a secret switch to a second room, which the bar opens up on busier nights. The second is a new bar behind Dusek's called The Tack Room. It's a piano bar straight out of an old Western. Tomorrow night it formally opens to the public at 9 p.m.

The bar was once a stable used by John Dusek, the building's former owner. It will host live piano players and sling cocktails like its Mint Julep made with Rebel Yell Bourbon, demerara and mint, or the Horse's Neck made with Hennessy, honey, lemon sour and Angostura bitters. Both are perfect for sipping on the patio seating. The food menu overlaps with Dusek's and Punch House's, including their popular Juicy Lucy and beef fat frites.

It will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Head over to Eater for the menu.
