Couple Says Local McDonald's Gave Them A Dirty Dish Rag Instead Of A Burger

A couple from Elk Grove Village says they were pretty pissed off after ordering a double cheeseburger from McDonald's and getting a dirty old dish rag instead.

Debbie Wirth and her husband went through the drive-thru at Arlington Heights Rd. and Biesterfield Rd. Wednesday night. They say they ordered a double cheeseburger but didn't notice anything was awry until they got home and opened up the wrapper. Wirth told ABC 7, "This is what I found when I opened my hamburger, a rag."

The couple called up the manager who then offered them a replacement McDouble, but Wirth says they wanted an apology—not a burger. She told ABC, "I got a rag, no apology, no nothing."

This story does have a happy ending, though. Rich O'Keefe, the owner of the McDonald's location in question, called the couple and apologized after being contacted by ABC. Debbie's husband Hans said, "They apologized numerous times ... I was happy with that, that was nice."
