Blagojevich Plans To Appeal Remaining 13 Charges

Word on the street is Blagojevich and his legal team will appeal the remaining 13 charges against him. The Sun-Times' Sneed got the scoop from Sheldon Sorosky, a member of the former disgraced governor’s legal team.

This information comes on the heels of the July 21 news that a three-judge panel dismissed five criminal convictions against Blagojevich. This time, Blago and team will appeal for a rehearing to the entire U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, hoping for a new sentencing hearing.

Last week, Blago’s wife Patti told reporters outside her home that the family has been waiting for this for three years, and that while it was disappointing that only five charges were tossed, “Possibly, this is a step in the right direction of getting Rod home to his family.”

Blagojevich has been in a federal prison in Colorado for the past 3 years, serving a 14-year sentence for his attempt to sell Obama's vacant senate seat in 2008.

We probably shouldn’t be so hasty when it comes to Sneed. While she’s Chicago’s political scoop queen, word on the street is Blagojevich and his team used to plant false information with her. It seems highly unlikely due to the former governor’s current standing, both figuratively and literally, but stranger things have happened in Chicago politics.
